Perfect for couples who love natural settings without going too far north. You’ll find fields, tall trees, and sunny beaches for golden hour magic. Bring a canoe for some gorgeous and fun couples portraits on the lake.

With its miles of wooded trails and lakeside views, Kensington in October is straight out of a moody romance novel. The vibrant leaves, soft lighting, and open space make it one of our favorite fall wedding photo locations in Michigan.

This is a hidden gem: old barns, vintage white chapels, picket fences, and trees that light up in the fall. It has small-town warmth with room to get creative.

Some of the most meaningful wedding photos we’ve taken were just outside the ceremony site or tucked into a quiet corner of the venue. A good photographer can find creative angles and light almost anywhere. Even if a spot looks ugly to you, your photographer will most likely see that space in a different light. Trust your photographer and things will work out perfectly.

One thing to keep in mind is to check for permissions and permits needed. So many great locations allow us to come into their space to use it for photography purposes and we want to make sure we’re doing things the correct way, being respectful, and following their rules. Many locations have either started requiring an expensive permit or have refused photography all together because people in the past have disrespected their space and rules. Let’s make sure we all work together so we can keep going to these places.
